Here's what I hear "It's going to cost your family twice as much to eat next year"

I'm a fairly simple fellow. So to be frank, I don't much get into the DC gamesmanship. Generally bores the piss out of me. Blah blah, fiscal cliff, blah blah. Eleven dimensional chess blah blah. So and so is sticking it to Republicans/Democrats and somebody's gonna look bad etc.. So and so has so and so on the run.

Tell me the markets will collapse. Tell me we'll have our national credit downgraded. Tell me about global economic peril.

Meh.

But tell methe price of milk could double if congress fails to pass a farm billand I am literally up at night worrying about it. Cuz we've got a young family, and we scrape by. And I already wince at $3 per gallon milk. This is going to hit our family hard. And immediately and every time we go into the sore to buy food.

Screw the global economy. When milk prices double, my family will get hit hard.  Breakfast cereal in the morning? Oatmeal with milk? Hot cocoa in the winter. Making bread. Grilled cheese sandwiches. Tomato soup, which we put milk in. Butter. Yogurt.

Spare me any of the anti milk crap. It's what we eat and this is seriously going to hurt my family.

Why is it going up?

Something about reverting back to a 1949 formula for calculating milk subsidies if congress fails to act. Which they will. We  know they will.

Thanks to Congress's failure to pass a new version of the farm bill, the last edition of which officially expired on September 30, American consumers are about to see the price of milk at the grocery store to skyrocket in the new year. It might even double to around $6 or $7 a gallon. That is, unless our elected officials defy their recent track record and manage to legislate a fix before January 1. I don't care about the highfalutin' gamesmanship, brinksmanship or jerking off about ideological objection to subsidies. All I hear is it's going to cost my struggling family twice as much to EAT because of aggressive Republican incompetence.
